Any good suggestions?
I need to know of some alternatives. I'm addicted to pain meds and i have been for about 10 years. I've needed them in the past for pain issues and that just fed the flame. every one of my friends does them and i really want to stop. It screws up my life with work and with my daughter. I don't want this anymore. I've tryed to stop numorous times but i haven't been able to succeed. I would move away and keep myself from temptation but I am a very depressed person and i couldn't move away from my daughter. I don't know what to do. If i miss a day without any i get massive withdrawles and i can't function without them. I really want to stop and i'm willing to try almost anything that could work. I just don't have the resorces to know what to do with the very little money that i don't really have.

Ugh. You need help I bet if you have major withdrawals. But if you can't afford some kind of treatment, then I am clueless. I bet that, for you right now, your treatment should come in as your #1 priority, ahead of all else. Have you tried to admit yourself to county or state mental institution? If your income is too high for them, and too low for for another institution, then perhaps you might sell what you have and quit your job. Maybe you don't need to go quite that far, but if you put your treatment as your #1 priority, then that does open possibilities that you might not have considered earlier.

Have you tried weaning yourself instead of just quitting?
Possibly halfen what you are used to taking and lower yourself down to nothing. I had a friend that was addicted to Lortab. He took about 10 a day. He weaned himself down to 7, then to 5 and then to 3. He still takes 3 a day but man, it's much better than what he was doing. It is hard to quit. My friend substituted the Lortabs for Goody Powders and while those are not the best thing in the world for him, it is helping with the withdrawals. |

heroin addicts find comfort in chocolate. I do also because I have chemical imbalances and I refuse to take meds for it. I know it seems kinda "home remendy" but it has some antioxidents and other chemicals. try it in combination with weaning and therapy. It could take some of the edge off.

I second the AA meetings or perhaps looking up some information online about treatment. You can be directed to a hotline perhaps and maybe even some information about free treatment. If you're willing to try anything there are some options out there. You should have a drug treatment facility in your area and they could tell you what to do.
